Story
The current situation in Gaza is dire, with reports indicating a significant humanitarian crisis. The death toll since October 7, 2023, has risen to 23,843, with more than 60,317 people wounded, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza. An overnight Israeli army attack on a house in Rafah killed 14 Palestinians, including a two-year-old girl, and within 24 hours, 135 Palestinians were killed and 312 were wounded.
The United Nations has described the conditions in Gaza as “shocking, unsustainable, and desperate,” highlighting constant attacks against healthcare facilities and personnel. Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) has reported attacks on their staff and facilities, including shelling and gunfire that killed and injured staff members and their families in Khan Younis. These attacks have severely hampered humanitarian efforts, with the organization being forced to evacuate nine health facilities. The distinction between civilians and combatants is often disregarded, making it extremely difficult to deliver lifesaving aid.
A report from the ground in Gaza by the head of the UN Human Rights Office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory has described a staggering loss of life, with nearly 25,000 people reported killed, 70% of whom are women and children. The report also mentions severe injuries to another 61,500 individuals, with many more presumed dead under the rubble. The humanitarian conditions are appalling, with people in Rafah creating makeshift shelters and the communication blackout exacerbating the chaos and fear among the population. Heavy bombardment is reported in Middle Gaza and Khan Younis, particularly
